The Start

So why "healthy living?" Mainly because I don't feel all that healthy. I am 25 years old, 6' 4" 210 pounds. I am your average human being. But here's my problem. I feel sluggish, I am not on my feet a lot, I am constantly getting sick and I just want to be more motivated to do something. I already do a lot but I want to start the rest of my life. I do hold two jobs already. One is contracting as a Google Certified Trainer. This allows me to travel all over the United States educating major Education institutions and giant companies how to properly use Google Apps in their business. It's fun but that only takes an average of 10 days a month and that number is shrinking. I also work for Chipotle Mexican Grill as a crew member. This fills in the space where I am not traveling to keep me out of trouble. Anyhow...
So here is where it starts. I have decided to create a new chapter in my life that will set the bar for the rest of my life. So I have a few simple goals.

  1. Eat healthy. Not just watch what I eat but how I eat as well. I am going to stop eating fatty, high sugar, and high calorie foods. I am strange in what I do sometimes as well. I do fast from something every month. In this month of December I have been fasting from hard liquor during the holidays. Next month will be from all red and dark meats. I do want to get more macro nutrients that are found from fruits, veggies, nuts and beans. I am not a huge fan of eating all these things but I am a huge fan of drinking them. So a juicer is in the works. I bought one yesterday and I do plan on putting it to work.
  2. Get into better shape. I do hit the gym to lift weights 3 times a week but I am not gaining any strength. I have found in my life that lifting weights is not the best way for me to stay in shape. I need more cardio: swimming, running, bicycling. In fact, I have made the decision to participate in a triathlon this summer. I haven't found one yet but I am on a 20 week training plan so that by this summer I will be participating in a triathlon. I do hope to loose the weight I don't need and gain the strength I want from this. I just entered my 20 weeks of workout into my calendar and it is going to be crazy. My biggest challenge is going to be finding a cheap pool to swim in during the winter.
  3. Move out of my hometown. I know this is a breakaway type of deal but I feel like I need to get away from my home town for a couple reasons. One, I want to get away from the community that I know. I want to be spontaneous and I don't want to be in a town where everyone knows me. Two, I want to find a job where I can be in a more diverse community. I live in a white community and it is starting to get a little boring. I feel like I need to break into a place where I can meet more than a "i grew up here in P-ville" background. I have set the goal that by the end of the summer I will be out of the El Dorado County area. God is going to make the final decision as to where I will settle through opportunities and work.
So this is the beginning. I will post about once a week with what I am doing and to keep up on the status of my goals. I will be leaning heavily on the food and active life but you will hear about the moving sitch as well. One thing that will be a little different is the fact I do travel and still have to fit in a workout almost everyday. I will have a long way to go but I hope this blog in an encouragement to you.
